The First Game Pass Games of 2026 Reveal Xbox Remains Committed.
In numerous discussions, fans keep sounding the death bells for Microsoft's gaming division. Xbox was recently outsold by a relatively obscure console. Xbox fan sites have started writing regarding Sony's platform for the first time. Last year proved to be an era of significant turmoil for Xbox and Microsoft. However, judging purely by what's coming to Game Pass in 2026, it's evident that Microsoft continues to plan to attract subscribers with strong games on its key platform.
The Current Inclusions
The duo of games you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass soon that's deserving of attention.
Significant Forthcoming Releases
Come mid-January, Game Pass will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that breaks up typical Ubisoft design with a space-faring criminal escapade. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "the perfect cocktail of horror and action."
Compelling Indie Titles
However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, drops on Jan. 7th — and you should try it regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year might get its hooks in you within just a quarter of an hour.
Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the developers behind Sniper Elite, is another one to watch. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.
A Well-Rounded Collection
In summary, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, nor are they massive exclusive blockbusters that justify the service by themselves. However, this batch of games are rock solid. The lineup provides a solid mix of older titles you may have skipped and relatively recent releases that lacked the recognition they were due initially — transforming them into perfect candidates to experience a revival on Game Pass.
You might need to brace yourself to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, though.
