The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a event leading up to the climate summit, which is scheduled to take place in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.

Father and son were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be taking place in South America ahead of the climate conference.

Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the next COP as stepping up an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement included speaking in concert with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other world leaders at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.

In recent days the prince described the award contenders as "contemporary champions".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats facing us over planetary heating, climate change and ecological decline," the King told participants.
